McPeak is an American theatre artist and academic, who is well-known for his website, Roof Con Truss Con, which provides free online training in the performing arts. As well as teaching performing arts artists, he also teaches humanities students at Stanford University in the areas of motion picture production and film criticism. He has taught degree-seeking undergraduate students for over 10 years. His first work as a professional screenwriter was "The Secret of the Strangler", a 1972 Tele-Play for American International Television network about a man who dreams he is a serial killer, and his efforts to prove this in court. This tele-play earned Stan his SAG member card in 1973, USIA award in 1976 and WGA award in 1975. His second television tele-play earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing in 1976. Stan's third television script earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing in 1978. His short film "The Street Killer" was selected for the Cannes Film Festival in 1981 and screened at both festivals and in many other festivals. Since 1970 he has taught theatre arts in the Palo Alto School District, California for over twenty-five years, acting as dean of its drama arts schools for five years. In 1980 he formed the independent non-profit Arts Education Foundation which provided full-time guidance to high school students interested in professional theatre arts, and produced one hundred plus productions of many different types of theatre for more than ten thousand students. Stan left his position as director of Palo Alto Drama Arts Program to pursue independent film work full time.. His written works include: McPeak's short films include: WindTrail is a feature documentary film project, based on the life of Stan McPeak, an American actor and writer, who was born in England and grew up in Canada. WindTrail explores his unique experiences as a child soldier in World War II Europe, growing up on US bases in Germany, England and Canada during the 1950s. It illustrates his return to the United States, where he made his way to Hollywood. He became a director, actor, writer and drama teacher. WindTrail also goes into the process of creating film projects online using free networking. It includes footage from "Escape" an independent feature film that was made in only 6 days with only 6 actors on location in Los Angeles.The film premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival on October 15, 2009. The project also includes a mockumentary based on the life of Stan McPeak called "Unreliable Narrator", which is an actor's memoir that tells about what it was like to work under Stan during his theatre career in Palo Alto California. cfa1e77820
